  • Sand Lake is located near the village of Minaki Ontario approx. 45 km. north the Kenora in Northwestern Ontario

  • the lake (Big and Little Sand) is part of the Winnipeg River system and connects to several other lakes including Pistol, Gun and Roughrock Lake
  • it is a large lake with a perimeter of 262 km. (164 miles)
  • Big Sand reaches maximum depths of over 200′. The average depth is 69′
  • Big and Little Sand Lake are connected via several channels that wind their way through a series of islands in the centre of the lake
  • major fish species include pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, muskie, black crappie, yellow perch and whitefish
  • take note that changing water levels can increase the current as you travel through narrows and necked down areas
