Lake Facts:

  • Elephant Lake is located just north of the village of Harcourt, Ontario in Haliburton County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 45° 07′ 50″ Long. 78° 07′ 55″
  • Elephant Lake is part of a tri-lakes system which also includes Baptiste and Benoir Lake
    at the north end of the lake your can boat along the York River into Benoir Lake or follow a channel (known as the Ripples) eastward into Baptiste Lake
  • overall the lake is shallow with extensive weed flats consisting of milfoil and cabbage. The deepest area reaches 25′
  • there are several resorts on the lake with private boat launches. You can boat into Elephant Lake from Baptiste Lake of the east which has a couple of public boat launches
  • northern pike predominate over what was once a thriving population of muskie
  • Elephant Lake lies within the boundaries of Fisheries Management Zone 15
