• Lake St. John is located north of Orillia Ontario on the east side of Lake Couchiching in Simcoe County
• co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 41′ Long 79° 19′
• this relatively fertile lake reaches a maximum depth of 25′. The average depth is 14′. The shoreline on the west side of the lake is quite rocky whereas the south end is quite shallow and weedy. The lake’s bottom consists primarily of mud and sand
• St. John Creek and the Log Canal flows out of the lake on the north end
• the lake is located in Fisheries Management Zone 15
