the lake has an irregular shoreline with plenty of bays, islands, narrows, rock piles, shoals, underwater humps and more
the Rainy Creek enters the lake on the south side (a sanctuary area). Water drains out of the lake on the west end via a dam to Playfair Lake
the perimeter of the lake is 54.2 km (33.9 miles)
the lake has been regularly stocked with walleye largely due to the efforts of a community walleye hatchery which has been engaged in this activity since 1983
major fish species include lake trout, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, whitefish, herring and perch
