Lake Facts:

• Wakomata is located on the east side of Hwy. 129 north of Thessalon Ontario in the District of Algoma
• co-ordinates: Lat. 46° 34′ 19″ Long. 83° 21′ 38″
• at least a dozen creeks and streams flow into the lake
• water levels are regulated by a dam on the west side of the lake where the water flows into Snowshoe Creek
• while the lake reaches maximum depths of 240′, the average depth is 102′
• the lake has a perimeter of 41.6 km (26 miles) and a surface area of 2,468 hectares (6,100 acres)
• the lake is fished primarily for lake trout. There are shoal areas near the large island in the centre of the lake which trout utilize for spawning purposes but are also occupied by smallmouth bass during the summer months. Trolling along the quick drop offs on the south side of the main island and the south shore can be productive for trout
• the shorelines have stretches of rocky rubble as well as sand
• there is an access point on the northwest side of the lake off of Hwy. 129
• Wakomata Lake is situated within Fisheries Management Zone 10
