Lake Facts:

• Wabatongushi Lake is located northeast of Wawa Ontario within the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve in the District of Algoma
• co-ordinates: Lat. 48° 27′ 49″ Long. 84° 13′ 49″
• the lake consists of a north and south section connected by a narrows
• the north end of the lake is relatively shallow, weedy and has some swampy areas as well as rocky shoals. The deepest waters are found in the southern section with much of the shoreline consisting of rock rubble with lots of stumps and submerged logs. There are many mid lake shoals, over 70 islands, many bays, sand bars, shoals and weed beds to fish over and around
• while the lake reaches maximum depths of 175′, the average depth is 23′
• the surface area of the lake is 3,787 hectares (9,360 acres)
• the perimeter of the lake is 151 km (94.5 miles)
• access to the lake is either by float plane or the Algoma Central Railway which butts up to the lake on the north end. A private gravel logging road, connecting Dubreuilville and the village of Missanabie, crosses the lake at the narrows. A launch is located at the bridge
  water levels are regulated by a dam on the south end of the lake
• there are a couple of sanctuary areas on the lake
• Wabatongushi Lake is situated within Fisheries Management Zone 7
