Trout Lake is located along Hwy. 17 4.8 km east of North Bay Ontario in the District of Nipissing
co-ordinates: Lat. 46° 18′ 52″ Long. 79° 19′ 27″
this 12 km long, clear water, spring fed lake consists of 5 basins. It is the headwaters of the Mattawa River
there is a lot of rocky structure including boulders in the shallows, rocky points, drop offs and shorelines. Submerged timer and weed beds and edges provide good cover for fish
while the lake reaches depths of 200′, the average depth is 55′
the perimeter of the lake is 59 km (37 miles)
the surface area of the lake is 1,673 hectares (4,135 acres)
stocking and stream rehabilitation efforts have resulted in a slowly recovering Atlantic Salmon population
Trout Lake has some special fishing regulations as well as sanctuary areas to protect vulnerable species
a public boat launch is located along Lakeside Drive on the west end of the lake
Trout Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 11
