• Big Hawk Lake is located between Carnarvon and Dorset Ontario on the east side of Hwy. 35 off of County Road 13 (Hawk Lake Road) in Haliburton County
• co-ordinates: Lat. 45° 10′ Long. 78° 44′
• the lake is connected to Little Hawk Lake and Nunikani Lake. Water flows out of the lake via a dam on the south end (the Kennisis River) towards Halls Lake
• the lake consists of 2 basins with the deepest areas reaching 180′. The average depth is 54′
• the perimeter of the lake is 35.6 km (22 miles)
• there is a lot of shoreline cover around the lake including rocky rubble stretches, overhanging trees, stumps and submerged logs
• it is possible to catch brook trout in the Blackcat Creek area and the narrrows heading into Nunikani Lake
• major fish species include smallmouth bass, lake trout, whitefish, perch and brook tout
• Big Hawk Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 15
