Cooper Lake is located northwest of Apsley inside the boundaries of the Kawartha Highlands Park. Access is by means of a portage from Rathbun Lake via Anstruther Creek. The starting point
is the public access on Anstruther Lake

the lake is shallow and weedy and favours a warm water fishery
there are several public campsites on the lake
the perimeter of the lake is 6.7 km (4.2 miles)
while the lake reaches depth of 19′, the average depth is 7′
