Lake Facts:

  • Pencil Lake is located on the east side of Hwy. 507 north of the village of Buckhorn and south of Gooderham Ontario in Peterborough County
    Pencil is a cottage lake which has a single basin that reaches depths of over 70′
  • there are a couple of inflowing streams and a creek exiting the south end on its way to Catchacoma Lake
  • much of the near shore areas consist of a rock bottom that drops off quickly into deeper water. The two bays on the south end have a mud bottom and lily pad growth. Mil foil weedbeds are also found on the south end extending into 12’+ of water
  • a public boat launch is located on the north end off of Pencil Lake Road
  • the lake has been regularly stocked with lake trout
  • Pencil Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 15
