Bass lake is located in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Balsam Lake is the highest point of the Trent Severn Waterway. The lake has diverse structure with deep weeds, islands and rocky shoals making it an ideal habitat for trophy fish.

there is a lot of cover for the major fish species including reeds, weed beds, lily pads, submerged logs and stumps
there is a public boat launch off of Fire Route 407
Nogies Creek from the Bass Lake Dam to Nogies Creek Dam is a sanctuary area
Bass Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 15
