Major Lake Species:  Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Yellow Perch, Northern Pike

  • Benson Lake is located west of Chaffey’s Lock in Leeds and Grenville County
  • the lake is part of the Rideau River Canal System. It connects to Mosquito, Loon, Indian, Clear and Newboro Lakes (without having to go through any locks)
  • Benson Lake is quite shallow. The southwest section does reach depths of 45′
  • weedbeds found in the lake consist primarily of milfoil and coontail. Submerged logs and stumps can also be found in these waters. Largemouth bass and pike predominate in these areas
  • access to the lake is from a private marina on Indian Lake from which you can follow the north side of Indian Lake and go in a westerly direction to Benson Lake
  • Benson Lake is located within Fisheries Management Zone 18
