Major Lake Species:  Walleye, Muskie, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass

  • Moira Lake is located next to the town of Madoc Ontario in Hastings County
  • co-ordinates: Lat. 44° 29′ 14″ Long. 77° 27’13”
  • the Moira River enters the lake on the west end and exits on the east side
  • Moira Lake has eutrophic features in that it is quite shallow, weedy and fairly rich in nutrient content
  • while the lake reaches depths of 36′, the average depth is 15′
  • it is 8 km long and approx. 1.6 km wide
  • the lake provides good cover (reeds, cattails, lily pads and weed beds) and structure (rocky points, islands and shoals) for the major fish species
  • there are two good concrete boat ramp located adjacent the bridge which divides the lake
  • Moira Lake is located in Fisheries Management Zone 18
  • the lake consists of two basins divided by the Hwy. 62 bridge
